• I finally listened to the last part of the writer's meeting podcast. It's really interesting to me to hear the discussions that the writers have; the process of creation always intrigues me. (And yes, I am one of the three people in the world who read all 48,000 volumes of The History of Middle-Earth, and found it to be a fascinating and possibly unique exploration of the creation of a major work.) One of the things I particularly noticed in the podcast was how late into the process they were still thinking of putting Kara in command of the Pegasus rather than Lee. Someone needs to fic that... • Dirk Benedict is stupider than I ever thought. From an interview located here*: Jonja.net: I saw you in the Starbucks(Coffee Shop) with Katee Sackoff (The Lowdown)and she couldn’t keep up with you, she didn’t know what to do with you.
Dirk:She just sat there and giggled. She was cute, she was nice. I thought oh my gosh. No, now, all those fans say “Oh, she is better than he ever was” but there is no comparison, I was a 29 year old man that played that part and I was male, and I was really male!
Dude? It's called acting. Yes, Katee is cute and nice and giggly ("bubbly" is the word I would use, actually). That doesn't mean she's going to play Starbuck as cute and nice and giggly. Good God... * Thanks to greycoupon for pointing this out.Tags: bsg, random Current Location: on a tear Current Mood: still flabbergasted

• I've seen a number of posts complaining that Kara's meltdown in "Scar" was All About Anders and that it thus seemed cheap or out of character or any number of things. Maybe it's just me, but ... I didn't see anything that claimed that this was just about Anders. Just that that was something that was preying on Kara's mind; she did promise to go back for him, Lee's been kinda distant, she misses him. But there's a bazillion reasons for Kara to be having a bit of a meltdown at this point in time, and (here beginneth my minor rant) do the writers really have to spell that all out?? I mean, is it wrong for them to assume that we can remember these things and make the inference ourselves? Why can't they use this episode in part to remind us of Anders without everyone assuming that they're trying to say that all of Kara's problems are due to her pining for Anders? Am I insane? Am I the only one who gets this? Um. Sorry. Er. • "Gunny" isn't a name. It's short for "Gunnery Sergeant," which is a Marine rank -- a very high-ranking NCO. (His name was Burrell, by the way. And yes, I think some Burrell/Kara fic would be in order.) • Personally, I think it is intentional that Dee seems a lot more invested in her relationship with Lee than vice-versa, although I'm not sure that she's so much in love with Lee as she is with the idea of Lee -- with "Apollo," if you will, the dashing heroic son of the Admiral, as opposed to the real person. And I think that could be very interesting indeed. • If you haven't already, you should look at the pictures of Katee Sackhoff here and on the referenced website. I ... ah ... *gibbers* ETA: Well, to fix the episode title 'cause I am a big stupid idiot. I blame it on those pictures of Katee melting my brain... Tags: bsg, random Current Mood: moody
